Luiza Helena Trajano is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Magazine Luiza. She has a degree in Law and in Business Administration, and is in charge of development for the group. As the company superintendent, it was Luiza who successfully led the major leap in innovation and growth that made Magazine Luiza one of the largest retailers in Brazil in subsequent decades.
She is on the board of another 12 organizations, among them the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the [Brazilian] Federal Government Economic and Social development board (CDES), the Institute for Retail Development (IDV), the São Paulo Federation of Industries (FIESP) and the UN Population Fund Consulting group for Brazil. In 2018 she co-chaired the World Economic Forum on Latin America, held in São Paulo.
Among the concepts she has always used to encourage her team are putting people first, an entrepreneurial mindset, innovation and creativity. Among the returns from her beliefs and practices is the fact that for the past 20 years straight Magazine Luiza has been one of the best places to work.
Throughout her career, Luiza has received hundreds of awards and prizes as an entrepreneur, business executive, woman and leader. In 2018, in a survey conducted by Spanish consulting firm Merco, she was #1 among the business leaders with the best reputation in Brazil. She is also the only Brazilian female executive on the 2018 global WRC (World Retail Congress).
Magazine Luiza currently has 893 stores and eleven distribution centers in strategic locations in 16 Brazilian states.
